Climate change statement
We all have a responsibility to do what we can in the face of climate change. At the Point of Care Foundation, we are committed to developing our strategy to embed action to reduce our climate impact.
Our commitment on climate change stems from our own convictions about this issue and growing understanding of our carbon footprint.
We also believe that climate change impacts on our mission. Through our work we have seen evidence that the issue is impacting on care. We know that clinical staff are encountering climate anxiety as a reason for patients’ treatment decisions. We have also heard health and care teams express concern about the impact of healthcare on the planet, for example the use of single use plastics.
Finally, much of our work is in partnership. We recognise the concern of many NHS organisations about climate change, and we wish to support our partners’ efforts at reducing their climate impact.
Our commitments
We are committed to learning more and continually developing our work to reduce our climate impact.
We will reduce our carbon footprint through activities such as reducing energy use and increasing energy efficiency, switching to renewable energy, reducing waste, reducing personal transport emissions, purchasing carbon offsets for electricity and gas use and transport, including air travel, and monitoring the carbon footprint of suppliers.
We also support efforts to increase awareness of the threat that climate change poses through our work and create opportunities for behaviour change to reduce this threat.
We seek to Incorporate considerations regarding climate change into our decision-making processes, including our financial decisions.
